Picky Eating VS Sensory Play

Tackling Picky Eating with Sensory Play: How Ermias Is Learning to Love Food One Crunch at a Time Hey, friends! Destiny here, coming at you with a little real-life mom magic from my chaotic-but-adorable world. If you’re battling a picky eater like me, you already know the struggle is real . The mealtime negotiations, the turned-up noses, and the please just eat something prayers. But guess what? There’s a gentle, fun way to help our little food explorers get comfortable with new textures and tastes — and it’s called sensory play . What Is Sensory Play—and Why Does It Matter? Sensory play is all about letting kids use their senses—touch, sight, sound, and sometimes even taste—to explore the world around them without pressure or expectation. For picky eaters, this can be a total game-changer. Instead of forcing food into tiny mouths, sensory play gives them the chance to get to know food on their own terms. Manifesting My Community: How This Blog is Keeping Me Accountable

The Power of Accountability: How This Blog Is Changing Everything

When I first started this blog, I thought it would just be a fun way to document my journey with Ermias—his meals, our struggles, and the little wins along the way. But in just a few days, it’s become something much bigger. I didn’t expect it to hold me accountable. I didn’t expect it to change the way I show up, not just for my son, but for myself.

an open note book that reads "the open of accountability" wit a pen laying on top and a little green plant in a pot peaking in at the top.

Writing It Down Makes It Real

There’s something about putting my thoughts into words and sending them out into the universe—even if no one is reading (yet). When I write about trying new foods for Ermias, I feel more motivated to follow through. When I share our challenges—like brushing his teeth or managing his milk sensitivity—I feel more determined to find solutions.

I can’t just say I’ll try to do better and then forget about it. It’s out there now. I’ve put it into words, and suddenly, it feels real.

Consistency Over Perfection

I never realized how much I needed this blog until I started writing consistently. It’s like a promise I’ve made to myself—one that I actually want to keep. Even on days when I feel exhausted, even when I wonder if anyone will ever find this blog, I still come back.

And maybe no one is reading right now, but I know my people are out there. I’m manifesting them, calling them in with every post I write. The ones who will relate, who will connect, who will find something valuable in my journey—eventually, they’ll find their way here. Until then, I’m showing up as if they already have. Because if I build it now, it’ll be ready when they arrive.

What’s Next?

So, here’s my plan:
I’m going to keep writing, keep experimenting, and keep growing—both as a mom and as a person. This blog may have started as a small project, but it’s already changing me in ways I never expected.

Have you ever started something that held you accountable in ways you didn’t anticipate? A journal, a fitness goal, a side project? What kept you going when no one was watching? Drop a comment and let’s talk about it.
