Picky Eating VS Sensory Play

Tackling Picky Eating with Sensory Play: How Ermias Is Learning to Love Food One Crunch at a Time Hey, friends! Destiny here, coming at you with a little real-life mom magic from my chaotic-but-adorable world. If you’re battling a picky eater like me, you already know the struggle is real . The mealtime negotiations, the turned-up noses, and the please just eat something prayers. But guess what? There’s a gentle, fun way to help our little food explorers get comfortable with new textures and tastes — and it’s called sensory play . What Is Sensory Play—and Why Does It Matter? Sensory play is all about letting kids use their senses—touch, sight, sound, and sometimes even taste—to explore the world around them without pressure or expectation. For picky eaters, this can be a total game-changer. Instead of forcing food into tiny mouths, sensory play gives them the chance to get to know food on their own terms. Studies show (and trust me, I’ve got the science receipts!) that this kind...

Clearing the Chaos: Prepping for Meal Planning & Toddler Adventures

Cleaning Detour

As much as I’d love to dive straight into meal planning and the adventures that come with it, there’s a bit of a detour I need to take today. Yes, I’ve got a list of kitchen tasks waiting—from brainstorming new meals for Ermias to prepping for our next grocery haul. But before I can really focus on that, I need to address the chaos in my bedroom first.

Why the Bedroom First?

Now, you might be wondering how bedroom clutter ties into meal planning. Here’s the thing: I have a mini fridge in my room where I store snacks and drinks for Ermias. With all the organizing happening around the house, this fridge has been a lifesaver for storing his milk alternatives, fruit, and snacks that help make mealtime a little easier.

But as our next shopping trip approaches, it’s time to clean out the fridge and make room for new staples—yogurt, drinks, and other essentials to help streamline meal prep. I also have a tote full of snack supplies that could definitely use some reorganization.

For Now, Breakfast Stays in the Bedroom

Eventually, we’ll be eating more at the kitchen table, but right now, breakfast still happens in the bedroom while I tackle the rest of the house. It’s not perfect, but it works for now. Once the bedroom clutter is under control, I’ll feel more settled and ready to focus on meal planning and making healthier, veggie-packed options for Ermias.

Keeping It Real on the Blog

I’m learning to embrace the mess. Prioritizing meals and health is important, but so is creating an organized, calm spacethat helps me think and focus. It’s all about finding balance, and I’m working on that every day.

As I start creating recipes and exploring new meals for the blog, I want to keep it real. While I’m not a professional, I do want my blog to look clean and polished, especially for recipes. But that doesn’t mean everything is perfect behind the scenes. I’m here to share real moments, not over-stylized perfection—just the honest journey of figuring it all out.

One Step at a Time

Stay tuned for more on the meal prep journey! But for now, it’s time to tackle that mini fridge, sort through the snacks, and get everything back in order so we can keep moving forward—one step at a time.
